We have gained accreditation in ISO 14001, the recognised standard for environmental management systems and regularly monitor and review our performance to ensure we manufacture in the most responsible manner.
R4 approach sets us apart
R4, OCee Design’s
environmental charter has been developed to encourage us to
Reduce, Reuse, Refurbish and Recycle wherever possible. As such, R4 establishes a new industry-leading standard for sustainability and sets us apart from many other seating manufacturers.
We strive to continually reduce our energy consumption and waste production. Training has been provided to all employees and energy saving initiatives have been introduced throughout the organisation. These simple measures enabled us to reduce electricity and gas consumption by 40% and 9% respectively whilst a separation scheme has cut the waste we send to landfill by 45%. In addition, our unrivalled
5 year warranty means that our products last longer, reducing the need for us to manufacture and our customers to order replacements.
Our partnership with
Clear & Recycle allows us to proactively help customers to ensure that their old chairs are
reused or
recycled. Pallets are also collected for reuse by our suppliers when delivering components. Internally, we actively
recycle all cardboard, soft plastics and fabric off-cuts. Furthermore, we can now refurbish worn chairs that would have previously been discarded.

As such, we manage our operations carefully to improve performance, maximise operating efficiencies, safeguard the jobs of our employees and provide customers with a secure source of supply.
